• IM-1728 Indian Air Force. Delivered 25-Mar-1958.

Written off

Otter 244 was delivered to the Indian Air Force on 25th March 1958 with serial IM-1728. After test flying at Downsview, it was packed into a crate and shipped to India where it was re-assembled and entered service. It crashed and was written off in Indian Air Force service, details unfortunately unknown.

“The Otters of 59 Squadron based at Jorhat not only carried out risky landings on unprepared surfaces but also transported the entire 11 Infantry Brigade to the Walong garrison from Tezu”.   This was during the India-China War of 1962. The wing of the Otter is in a monument at Tezu in Arunachal Pradesh, to this war.
