c/n 426

• G308 Ghana Air Force. Delivered 29-Dec-1961. Based at Takoradi Air Base.

(5V-AGA). Reported as sold in Togo and seen at Lome in early 1974, but perhaps not formally registered and subsequently broken up. Therefore, considered ntu.

Broken up

Otter 426 was delivered to the Ghana Air Force on 29th December 1961 with serial G308. It was the ninth of an order for twelve Otters, all of which were packed into crates and shipped to Ghana, where they were re-assembled and entered service. They were based at Takoradi Air Base. The Otters continued in service with the Ghana Air Force until 1973, when they were withdrawn and put up for sale. Of the twelve Otters delivered to Ghana, three had been written off in service and eight were sold to Masin Aircraft of Germany, who sold them on to Canada. G308 however was sold in Togo. It was seen early in 1974 parked at Lome, the capital of Togo, still in basic Ghana Air Force colour scheme but bearing marks 5V-AGA, parked alongside a former Ghana Air Force DHC-2 Beaver marked 5V-AGC, although it appears that neither aircraft was formally registered on the Togo register. It also appears, as best as can be ascertained, that both of these aircraft were broken up at Lome without ever seeing service in Togo.
